Know Make Known Make a Difference

The PVCC Icon (circle with four dots) represents the unity and commitment we have with and to one another that surrounds and supports our mission and vision as a faith community. The single darker dot represents our primary mission - what we call our "passion statement" - which is: "To Know Christ and Make Him Known." This twofold calling of “knowing Christ” and “making Him known” leads us to understand that our relationships with one another ("fellowship") are directly connected to our calling and purpose as a faith community ("mission") . We cannot separate the two.

The three lighter dots in the circle represent the three primary results that we strive to achieve as we live out our "passion" as a faith community. It is our goal that every person Know Christ, Be Known by trusted friends, and Make A Difference in the community. We strive to achieve these results through the three primary activities by which we live out or calling and passion together: Worship , Life Groups , and Serving Teams . We ask every PVCC partner and regular attender to be actively involved in these three core life activities because it is through Worship that we come to know God more, it is in authentic community that we experience the work of God's Spirit, and it in serving others sacrificially that we become the body of Christ in the world.

As we strive to become a living testimony to the world of God’s love for all people, we will work through our relationships with God and with one another to demonstrate the attitude of Christ and his model of love-made-real through sacrificial relationships (Phlp. 2:1-18). We work to cultivate a “Great Commission” component at every level of our Christian community (Matt. 28:18-20). Which means, rather than focusing on our own “personal preferences,” we seek God’s guidance for how we can be a blessing to others, both within our faith community as well as in our neighborhoods and the larger city (Matt. 22:36-40).

We believe God has called us to build people, not programs. All that we do in love for others is a sacrifice to God and constitutes our “spiritual worship” (Rom. 12:1-2). Because Jesus died for each of us, his call to us is to also give our lives for others. Thus, we will work to become a church FOR OTHERS – for the least, the lame, and the lost.

“As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if  you love one another.” – Jesus (John 13:34-35)
